Helping Hands: Borrow, Donate or Purchase Medical Equipment
A helping hand when you need it—and a way to give back.
Sun City West Foundation’s Helping Hands offers short-term medical and children's equipment loans at no cost, including wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs and more through their standard 90-day loan program. Children’s equipment and rollaway beds are also available to help you welcome visiting family and guests. While borrowing is free, donations are always appreciated and help support this community resource.
Stop by and see how Helping Hands can help you.
Open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon, Helping Hands welcomes neighbors interested in borrowing, donating or purchasing equipment. Visit us at 14624 W. R. H. Johnson Blvd., Sun City West, AZ 85375, or call 623-975-5499 to ask about availability and loan details. You can also browse our online equipment catalog linked below.
For additional ways to connect with Helping Hands consider donating or purchasing equipment:
Give gently used equipment a new purpose.
If you have medical equipment you no longer need, consider donating it to Helping Hands. Your donation can help another neighbor access equipment that supports their mobility and independence.
Find an option for longer-term needs.
Helping Hands also offers gently used durable medical equipment for purchase. This may be a helpful option if you need equipment beyond the standard 90-day loan period or want to take it out of state.
Neighbors helping neighbors—that’s what community is all about.

Support That Matters | Make a Difference
Thoughtful Ways to Give, Lasting Ways to Help
At Sun City West Foundation, generosity helps neighbors access Helping Hands equipment loans, transportation referrals and community programs. If you’re considering a gift, employer matching and charitable giving from an IRA may offer meaningful ways to support this work.
Explore Employer Matching
Did you know your employer may match your charitable donation? Check with your employer, or former employer if you’re retired, to see whether your donation to Sun City West Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, qualifies for a matching gift. An employer match can extend the impact of your gift, helping the Foundation serve more neighbors in our community.
Turn Your RMD Into Community Support
As the year comes to a close, your retirement giving decisions can make a difference close to home. If you’re eligible, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows you to transfer funds directly from your IRA to Sun City West Foundation. This gift can count toward all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may be excluded from your taxable income.
Your generosity helps sustain programs such as Helping Hands and Find Your Ride, connecting neighbors with equipment loans and transportation resources.
Speak with your financial adviser or IRA custodian about eligibility and arranging a QCD. For information about supporting the Foundation, call 623-584-6851. Your gift can make a lasting difference right here in Sun City West.

Pickleball | Save the Date
3,500 Pickleballs. Local Causes. One Fun Community Day!
Thousands of pickleballs will fall from the sky for a good cause—and one could be your ticket to a prize!
The Sun City West Pickleball Club’s All-for-Charity Pickleball Drop and Community Day returns Saturday, February 27, 2027, at Liberty Courts Pickleball Center, 13800 W. Deer Valley Drive. The balls are scheduled to drop at 10:30 a.m. Enjoy free hot dogs and burgers, free beginner pickleball lessons and prize drawings.
Big news for this year: 3,500 numbered balls will be available! That's 500 more than last year! Entries are $10 for one ball or $25 for three, and you do not need to be present to win.
Presented by the SCW Pickleball Club with title sponsor PRIME Wealth Advisors, the event supports various organizations serving our community: SCW Foundation/Helping Hands, PRIDES, PORA, SCW Posse, Community Fund of SCW, Valley View Community Food Bank and the AFMA Fire Corps Program.
Tickets will be available online and at Helping Hands, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon, and through the Sun City West Pickleball Club. Please visit our website on November 16 for more details, including when ticket sales will open.
Mark your calendar, invite your neighbors and help turn a little pickleball fun into meaningful support for our community.

Safe Walker Program | Be Seen, Stay Safe
Step Into Safety with the Safe Walker Program
Cooler weather makes it a great time to get outside and enjoy a walk around the neighborhood. With fewer daylight hours, it’s also a good time to think about how easily others can see you.
Sun City West Foundation’s Safe Walker Program offers free reflective wristbands to help make you more visible in low light. Whether you’re walking the dog before breakfast or catching up with a friend after dinner, a reflective wristband is a simple addition to your routine.
Haven’t picked yours up yet? Visit the Foundation Monday–Thursday, from 8 a.m. to noon, and encourage your walking companions to stop by, too.
Wristbands are available one per person, with a maximum of two per household. Donations are appreciated to help support the program.
Enjoy the fresh air, stay connected and remember: Be Seen, Stay Safe.

The Sunny Side
The Sunnier Side of Life
The Sunny Side: A Little Gratitude Goes a Long Way
November invites us to pause and appreciate the people who make our days brighter. A neighbor who checks in, a volunteer who lends a hand or a friend who always makes us laugh, each gives us something to be thankful for.
This month, we challenge you to turn that gratitude into a small act of kindness. Leave a thank-you note, call someone who has made a difference in your life or invite a neighbor to join you for coffee. A few thoughtful words can mean more than we realize.
November’s Sunny Side Challenge:
Thank someone who might not hear it often. Let them know how they’ve made your day, or our community, a little brighter.
