Dust Off Your Witch Hats — The SCW Witches Ride for Charity Returns October 30
Dust off your witch hats, gather your friends, and start planning your decorations!
The annual Sun City West Witches Ride for Charity returns on October 30, bringing residents together for a day of creativity, laughter, and Halloween spirit. Participants transform golf carts, bicycles, and scooters into festive Halloween creations before taking part in this beloved community tradition.
More than just a day of fun, the Sun City West Witches Ride for Charity helps make a meaningful impact throughout the community. Proceeds benefit both Sun City West Foundation and Benevilla, supporting programs and services that assist local seniors year-round.
Participation in the ride is free, but donations are encouraged — and for every $20 donated, you'll receive a prize drawing ticket for a chance to win exciting raffle prizes! With more than 50 raffle prizes to be awarded during the event's after-party, there will be plenty of opportunities to win while supporting two organizations dedicated to serving local residents.
The celebration continues after the ride at Beardsley Park, where participants can enjoy food trucks, live music, raffle drawings, and time with friends and neighbors.
Whether you're riding, decorating, volunteering, or cheering from the sidelines, the Witches Ride is a wonderful opportunity to make memories, connect with your community, and support a great cause.

Summer Safety: Stay Cool, Stay Hydrated, and Stay Visible
Arizona summers can be challenging, especially during the hottest months of the year. Taking a few simple precautions can help you stay safe while enjoying walks, exercise, and other outdoor activities.
- Drink water regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty.
- Schedule walks and outdoor activities during the early morning or evening hours when temperatures are cooler.
- Wear lightweight clothing, sunscreen, and a hat for added sun protection.
- Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
- Know the signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, headache, nausea, excessive sweating, and fatigue.
Just as important as staying cool is staying visible. If you're walking during the early morning, evening, or after dark, consider participating in Sun City West Foundation's Safe Walker Program. The Foundation provides free reflective wristbands designed to help increase visibility and promote pedestrian safety throughout the community. Reflective wristbands are available at the Foundation office Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to noon. One wristband is available per person, with a maximum of two per household while supplies last.
Get Active … Be Safe!
Summer Is a Great Time to Learn CCO & AED Basics
Did you know that immediate CCO (Chest Compression Only) and proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can dramatically improve survival rates during a cardiac emergency? When cardiac arrest occurs, every minute matters. Quick action from bystanders before emergency responders arrive can make a critical difference.
With many residents away for the summer, class sizes are often smaller, making this an excellent time to participate in a CCO/AED training course. These free classes provide hands-on instruction and help build confidence in responding during an emergency situation.
