New Program | Resident Safety
Introducing the Safe Walker Program
It is a joy to take a walk in Sun City West. Many residents enjoy the cooler temperatures at dawn and dusk, but lower light conditions can make it harder for drivers to see you.
Sun City West Foundation cares about your safety and has launched the Safe Walker Program. Stop by the Foundation office to pick up a free reflective wrist band. You can wear it on your wrist or ankle, as those are the most visible spots for oncoming and passing drivers.
- Where: 14465 W R H Johnson Blvd (Mon–Thu, 8:00 AM to Noon)
- Cost: Free (1 per person, 2 per household). Free will donations accepted.
- Available: Reflective wrist bands will be available starting after April 8.
Walking Safety Tips
- Use sidewalks whenever they are available. If there is no sidewalk, walk on the shoulder of the road facing oncoming traffic and as far from the road as possible.
- Cross at designated areas like marked crosswalks or intersections. Avoid crossing mid-block or darting out from between parked cars where drivers may not see you.
- Obey all signs and signals. Wait for the walk signal, but even then, look both ways (left, right, then left again) to ensure no cars are coming, especially turning vehicles.
- Never assume a driver sees you. Make eye contact with drivers, wave if necessary, and wait until a car comes to a complete stop before crossing its path.
- Watch for cars in driveways and parking lots. Be alert to backup lights and engine noise, as drivers often focus on other vehicles rather than pedestrians in these areas.
- Be visible. During the day, wear bright or light-colored clothing. At night or in low-light conditions (dawn and dusk), wear reflective materials and carry a flashlight.
- Tell someone your route and when you expect to return, especially if walking alone.
- Always carry your ID and cell phone with you.
For more walking safety information, visit the Arizona Department of Transportation walking safety page.

Meeting Rooms | Community Impact
Your Foundation Provides Space That Helps Our Community Thrive
One of the most practical ways Sun City West Foundation supports Sun City West is by donating meeting and workspace to community causes and partners that serve our neighbors. It is not always visible, but it makes a real difference for people who rely on these services.
In fact, Sun City West Foundation provides approximately $92,000 in free space each year to support organizations that benefit our community. And when residents reserve rooms at the Foundation, it helps sustain this vital service for the year ahead.
- Deep resident discounts: SCW residents receive significantly reduced rates on room rentals
- A variety of options: Seven different-sized meeting rooms to accommodate from 12 to 450
- Rates include: first 4 hours plus table and chair setup (additional hours available)
Planning a meeting, workshop, celebration, or club gathering? View room options and submit an inquiry online, and our team will follow up to confirm availability.
